Akropolis is a strategy board game designed for 1 to 4 players, recommended for ages 8 and up. Players compete to build the most prestigious city in ancient Greece by placing tiles in their play area. Each turn involves choosing a piece from the central market and arranging it correctly to maximize the final score.

The mechanics combine planning and resource management, where stone is essential for selecting specific tiles. Players must manage different types of buildings such as houses, temples, markets, gardens, barracks, and plazas, each with its own placement and scoring rules. Quarries allow players to obtain stone without providing direct points, while plazas multiply the score during the tally. Houses score based on the largest adjacent group, markets require separation from each other, and barracks perform better on the city borders.
