A processor is chosen by socket, which must match the motherboard: AM4 or AM5 for AMD, and LGA1700 or LGA1851 for Intel. Then, by cores and threads: more cores perform better when editing video, compiling or virtualizing, and for gaming, turbo frequency matters more.

TDP guides you on the heatsink you need. Some models do not include a heatsink in the box: the product page states if it is included, and also if it has integrated graphics.
