This expansion for Agricola introduces new strategic challenges focused on terrain adaptation and resource management. Players must transform plots covered in forests and marshes through actions such as logging or slash-and-burn, obtaining wood and peat. Peat acts as essential fuel to heat the home, preventing farmers from falling ill during harvests.

The game incorporates horses as a new animal species and adds specific terrain tiles for forests and marshes. It includes a dispensary to manage illnesses and requires renovating the house to optimize heating costs. It is designed for 1 to 6 players, with a duration of 30 to 120 minutes, and requires the basic game of Agricola in its revised edition to function.
