The Synology RX1217RP is an expansion unit designed to increase the storage capacity of the brand's NAS servers. It features 12 bays that support 3.5-inch SATA hard drives, 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. Its architecture allows for a maximum internal raw capacity of 144 TB, using twelve 12 TB drives, although the final volume depends on the configured RAID setup.

This device connects via an Infiniband port and supports RAID management through the Synology DSM operating system.
